How to Refresh Your Home for Spring

The warm weather is starting to make an appearance here in Connecticut and after a long cold winter, we’re welcoming spring with open arms. As we start opening up our windows and put away our heavy winter coats, we’re also looking for ways to spruce up our own homes to embrace the energy that comes with a new season. If you’re doing the same in your home, but aren’t sure where to start, keep reading for our favorite ways to freshen up your home for spring!

Incorporate Color

When most people hear “incorporate color into your home,” they think bright colors everywhere, but incorporating color into your space doesn’t have to be that intense! Instead, try making strategic swaps - updating dark colors pillows for neutrals, purchase fresh (colorful!) floral arrangements from the market, and add a pop of color to your walls by swapping out art prints.

By making these small changes, you’re able to easily freshen up your home for the new season without spending a ton of money.

Use Lighter Fabrics

All of the faux fur throw blankets and heavy duvets you’ve been relying on all winter to keep you warm and comfortable are going to be way too warm as the temperatures start to increase. Give them a good wash and put them away for next year and replace them with lighter fabrics! We love cotton and linen in neutral tones to make a room feel clean and crisp.

Tackle a Home Improvement Project

If you’re like us, your list of home improvement projects is never-ending. Now that you can keep doors and windows open while you work, it’s a great time to start tackling them. Not sure where to start? Paint a room!

Swap Out Your Candles

Trust us, we love all of the cozy gingerbread and pumpkin-scented candles as much as you do, but it’s time to switch them out for something a little more fresh and spring-friendly! You can never go wrong with floral or fresh laundry scents, but unscented candles are great, too.

Update Your Patio Furniture and Decor

Now that you’ll be spending more time outside, it’s the perfect time to get your patio in tip top shape. Swap out any furniture that is getting old, add in a few colorful throw pillows, and give your landscaping a refresh.
