Renovation Spotlight: Construction Update

It has been a while since our last update on this project and there is significant progress to report.  For the most part, the renovation has stayed true to our initial plan. We did not encounter any unforeseen conditions that required material changes to the plans. This is not always the case and it is important to remain flexible during the project as you encounter things during the process. For this post, we will focus on the kitchen and 2nd-floor bathroom.

Kitchen Progress

We completed most of the demolition over a few days in August and September.  It always amazes me how much debris I generated during a renovation.  In this project, we have filled up three dumpsters and expect to utilize a fourth one for a final clean up.  The major demolition on the first floor was the kitchen.  Below is a picture of the kitchen after most of the demolition:

A later photo after the removal of the wall between kitchen and dining area and the plumber and the electrician have completed the rough installation:

The next step in the renovation is insulation, sheetrock, and taping. You will also notice the hardwood floor has been installed:

The final update for the Kitchen is the installation of the cabinets.

To finish the kitchen, we will install the trim, paint, and install counters, and appliances.  The last step in our process is to finish the hardwood floors.

2nd Floor Bath Progress

Upstairs, we have made good progress on renovating the shared bathroom.  Once complete, the bathroom will have a 60” double vanity, a toilet, tub with shower, and an extra cabinet/countertop for storage/display.  To accomplish this renovation, we reconfigured the room and moved the vanity and toilet to get a more functional layout.  First is a picture of the bathroom demolition:

Later in the process, the new tub was installed:

Lastly, a similar picture of the bathroom after the tile work has been completed:

To finish the bathroom, we will install the trim, vanity, and plumbing fixtures and paint.

Overall, we are nearing the completion of this project.  Our schedule will have us refinishing the floors in early February and listing the unit for sale shortly after the floors are complete.    If you would like to learn more about this project please reach out to us at 203-594-0360 or by email at todd@resource360ct.com.
